I was checking through my demos and I found an old tape that had Snake on vocals. Back in those days they were as glam as Soho Roses. I do not have any pictures, but does anyone else remember? Does anyone have any pictures from back then? Also does anyone have any pictures of Celebrity Skin? I have never actually seen them?

Despite Snake, and the Soho Roses connections ,I hardly think the Wildhearts could ever have been consrude as glam. I have most of the Demos and you could hardly mistake Turning American or Liberty Cap for Talk Dirty to me..

The Throbs with their image of pasty skin and jet black hair go and ask a guy called Ginger to join. Then they wonder why he won't dye his hair black....the clue's in the name muppets!
One of rock's sillier moments but always a great story. Good to hear Celebrity Skin might give it another go. I'd love to hear more stuff from them, even if it's just a bunch of old demos repackaged!

Thanks for the link Nasty! But image wise Wildhearts were certainly a glam band. On their cover photo, they look like Sweet Teaze or something. But I must admit that they have toned it down completely. I think Snake's departure signalled a change in the band's direction... Anyway what about Nitro? Freight Train wasn't Talk Dirty to me - were they a glam band? What about Pharoah? Phantasm? Legz up? Kid Wikked? Romeo's Rock? Early Guns N Roses? Nasty Idols? Do you think all these aren't glam because they are not bubblegum? Glam is as much image as it is a sound.

I was with Ginger in New York for his "Throbs" debut gig. The same night, I won the "best Butt in New York" competition, beating the "Cycle Sluts from Hell", and Nick Cave. I don't remember the Throbs gig. I was under the bar with Venus Penis-Crusher....

    Great night out though...

The Wildhearts never have been and never will be a glam band,
The closest has to be the silver ginger five album

    its not all about image

The Wildhearts before Ginger took over vocals definately had a glam sound. The early demos had some elements of the classic Wildhearts sound, but Please Baby Please and Wild Wine and Whisky have glam written all over them.
